The Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, has officially amended the Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024. Published in the Gazette of India on June 13, 2025, this amendment extends the compliance deadline, giving industry stakeholders more time to align with updated safety norms.

What’s Changed?

New Compliance Date:

• The original one-year post-publication timeline has been replaced. The new effective date is 1st September 2026.

Phased Implementation:

• The regulation will apply to machines and electrical equipment listed in the First Schedule from 1st September 2026.
• Assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components will come under regulation on a future date, to be notified separately by the government.
